Forward, FC Barcelona & Spain

Sports Spain Hall No. 29

Profile

Why they shine

Ferran Torres has been a runner and a creator for most of his career rather than a finisher, and in 2026 he needed one goal to change that. He played all eight matches of Spain's World Cup campaign, assisted the only goal of the round of 16 against Portugal, and came off the bench in the 62nd minute of the final to score the 106th-minute winner against Argentina. It was his first and only goal of the tournament, and it earned him the man of the match award in a stadium where Spain won its second world title.

He entered the final in the 62nd minute and, four minutes into extra time, struck the only goal of the match: Nico Williams won the aerial ball and Torres smashed it into the roof of the net from close range. Spain's second world title in sixteen years came with one goal and one assist from Torres, plus the man of the match award.
