Profile

Why they shine

Cata Coll has been Barcelona's first-choice goalkeeper since 2019, and 2025-26 was the most complete season of her career. She kept five clean sheets in the Champions League, a tournament high, and ended the final in Oslo with another as Barcelona beat Lyon 4-0 for a fourth European title. Across all competitions she finished on 18 clean sheets, and she was in goal for Spain's bronze medal run at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She had also started the 2023 Women's World Cup final, the one Spain won on home soil.

Chosen by the 50-journalist women's panel as the outstanding goalkeeper of 2025-26. Coll's case rested on a Champions League campaign in which she started every match, kept five clean sheets — a tournament high — and preserved the scoreline in the 4-0 final win over Lyon in Oslo. She is the second Spanish woman to hold the trophy, after Hannah Hampton in 2025.
