Why they shine
Tyler, The Creator won the first Grammy ever awarded for Best Album Cover, taking the inaugural edition of the category at the 2026 ceremony for the hand-drawn artwork of his album CHROMAKOPIA. Born Tyler Okonma in Los Angeles, he co-founded the Odd Future collective before rebuilding himself as a full-auteur artist who directs his own videos, designs his own packaging and stages his own festivals. His albums Flower Boy, IGOR and Call Me If You Get Lost have each evolved his sound further from the shock rap of his debut toward soul, synth-pop and jazz-inflected production, earning two previous Grammys for Best Rap Album.
